Another Sunday - Another Fun Run Day..

Takbo ko, regalo mo :

November 27,2011, 6:00 AM, the weather is cloudy but fine. I, myself, along with hundreds of runners gathered in the open field of Greenfield City, Santa Rosa City, Laguna to participate in the 1st fund raising fun run event for the benefit of child advocacy programs (the adopted orphanage in the area)and sponsored by PPS-SLC (Pediatric Philippine Society-Southern Luzon Chapter).

The events are 1K for 7 to 12 years old while 3K & 5K are open for teens and above, elite & non-elite runners.

Honestly, i promised myself to limit my fun run entry. I'm no longer interested if the event is just a pure "commercial run" and it's a personal choice. Since this fun run is a "run for a cause" with good intention and advocacy, i decided to join the event without any hesitation.

This is my _th fun run for the year and today, i am very thankful to survive another 5K.

Hope to see you soon in my next run.

My Ways of Spending Quality Time with My Family During Weekend..

Weekend is a simple rest day for some families, but in mine, it's more than that. It's a family day for us.

Here i list down 5 easy ways to spend quality time for my family.
1. Find GOD.
We used to go to church every Sunday to listen the "words of God". Having a deep sense of faith showed a decrease in our stress and emotional problems.

2. Stay fit and healthy.
We are not an athletes but we managed to do a regular weekend exercises such as jogging, playing basketball and biking. These are the easiest and simplest ways we knew to work out our body. It is also good for our cardiovascular and respiratory systems. As the saying goes, "the more you sweat, the more you are becoming healthy".

3. Eat a meal together.
We spend most of our time outside our house during weekdays, in school for the kids and mine is the office. So, it is importance for us to eat our meal together to continuously develop stronger relationship among our family members. It was indeed a bonding time for us.

4. Watching movies at home.
Whenever there are new DVD and Blue-ray copy movies available, we set a special time each week to watch a movie in our house. We make it a fun family event. The movies we already watched are Knight and Day, Cars 2, Kung-Fu Panda 2, Pirates of the Caribbean on Strangers Tide, X-Men First Class, The Mighty Thor, Transformer 3- Dark of the Moon, Smurfs, Rio, Captain America, Fast Five and Green Lantern to names a few.

5. Leaving my work in the office.
Devotion to work is not a bad thing; just to make sure i know to separate my office life from my personal life. Bringing home unfinished work means less time for relaxation and family time.

HAPPY WEEKEND to ALL.....

Ankle Sprain, a player nightmare....

Last night, during a badminton play, i sprained my right foot when going after a shuttlecock smash. I thought it was just a simple sprain, so i decided to keep on playing to finish the sets even if i'm limping a bit. After finishing 4 tremendous and hard fought sets, i checked and found out that my right foot was swollen badly, a sign of "Ankle Sprain".  Later, i started to feel a very sharp pain on my right foot as i could not move it and let alone walk properly. I iced it for 30minutes but the pain was still there.

What is Ankle Sprain?
It is a painful stretching of ankle ligaments of the joints caused by sudden stops or turns, injuries or falls.

What are the symptoms?
Bruised ankles and sore or swollen muscles.

How to treat sprains?
According to one view, sprains should be bandaged and applied with ice or very cold water. But, according to a different view, sprains should be initially treated with alternate hot and cold-especially if it is in the wrist, elbow or ankle.

I will miss playing badminton, biking and running for a while. Hope the swelling will subside quickly in a few days so i can return in playing aggressive badminton again and even go back to biking and running - jyl

Dining @ Mckys for our Favorite Filipino Street Foods

We used to dine in that grilled house at least once in a month (jyl, John & Chel as regular customers) for the unwind after office hour. Name it, they have it.

As usual, we ordered our favorites street foods - Ang isaw ng Manok at Baboy, Tenga ng Baboy, Atay ng Manok, Balunbalunan, Adidas at iba pa.

What are these street foods?

3. Atay ng Manok (Chicken Liver) - from the word itself ay ang atay ng manok.

4. Balunbalunan (Chicken Gizzard)-

Today is my Eldest son Birthday!

Time flies so fast.

Imagine, today is my eldest 15th Birthday, Joshua. Are we really getting older or just simply say "Nagkaka-EDAD" na ba talaga kami? hahaha..

His younger brother, Robbie, greeted him this morning and continued asking "Kuya, saan ka magbo-lowout" which he simply replied with a simple smile.

Anyway, i just want to greet my son "A HAPPY HAPPY Birthday". Hope for his success in more years to come and stay to be a good as ever.

We love you!
